This specimen was lot 23181 in Heritage sale 3012 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I 75 Reis 1760R, VF30 NGC, very attractive deep gray toning, choice grade for this highly elusive date. From The Guariba Collection of Brazilian Coins." The type was struck at Bahia 1752-54 and Rio 1754-55 and 1760. None are common but this date is the rarest. Many of this type are known with the counterstamp of 1809 raising them to eighty réis, a denomination later taken over by a copper coin.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 2.26 g, 0.917 fine silver, .066 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM 176.2.
