Stephen Album sale 47, lot 536

This specimen was lot 536 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAFAVID: Muhammad Khudabandah, 1578-1588, AV mithqal, Kashan, AH989, type B, VF, R." The mithqal was a gold coin favored by the first Safavid shahs (Ismail I, Tahmasp I, Muhammad Khudabandah) but was superseded by the ashrafi during the reign of shah Abbas (1587-1629).
