Heritage sale 3040, lot 30356
Peru H3040-30356r.jpg

This specimen was lot 30356 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 100 Soles 1968 MS62 NGC, Lima mint. Brilliant Uncirculated with the usual bagmarks encountered at this technical grade. A decidedly scarcer date of this type, with only 540 pieces struck, quite uncommon in this engaging quality." The type was struck in Lima 1950-70 in limited numbers as a bullion coin. This date is scarce; some dates are rare (<200 pieces). Gold five, ten, twenty and fifty soles were struck during the same period.

Recorded mintage: 540.

Specification: 46.80 g, 0.900 fine gold, 1.354 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-78; KM 231.
