This specimen was lot 1557 in Jean Elsen sale 116 (Brussels, March 2013), where it sold for €270 (about US$410 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"FRANCE, Louis-Philippe Ier (1830-1848), AR 1 franc, 1833 B, Rouen. Belle patine. Rare dans cette qualité. Superbe à Fleur de Coin (kingdom of France, Louis Philippe (1830-48), silver franc of 1833, Rouen mint. Nice patina, rare in this quality, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This issue, from the Rouen mint, is from a type struck 1832-48. This design, by Domard, replaced the Tiolier bust type struck 1831 only. It was demonetized in 1869. A complete set of this type comprises 118 date and mintmark combinations, many very rare. The entire production run, 1832-48, totaled about 18.1 million pieces. The production of five franc pieces in the same period was 289 million.
