H3096-31003r.jpg

This specimen was lot 31003 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $4,920. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alderney: British Dependency. Elizabeth II gold Proof "Islander's Return" 2 Pounds 1995 PR70 Ultra Cameo NGC. Commemorating the return of the inhabitants of the Channel Islands at the conclusion of the Second World War, this coin depicts a passenger boat ferrying displaced citizens home over watery, mirrored fields. The sole finest at NGC and PCGS. From the Paramount Collection." Alderney was not granted the right to coin until 1989, and has used it only to issue NCLT's. This one, commemorating the return of the islanders after World War II, was issued in three formats.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common in copper-nickel, 10,000 in silver and 250 in gold.

Catalog reference: copper-nickel: KM 13; silver: KM 13a; gold: KM 13b, Fr-10.
