This specimen was lot 30965 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Shilling 1844 MS65 PCGS, Royal mint. Young Head. A sublime jewel, boldly defined and with subtle champagne and baby blue opalescence that whirls about the argent surfaces, featuring crisp motifs throughout and faint die-clash lines on the reverse. Scarce so fine, and a remarkable piece in hand." This type was struck 1838-66 in large quantities with a slightly modified obverse continuing until 1887.

Recorded mintage: 4,467,000.

Specification: 5.65 g, .925 fine silver, .168 troy oz ASW.
