This specimen was lot 194 in Jean Elsen sale 146 (Brussels, November 2020), where it sold for €180 (about US$262 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XV (1715-1774), AR écu aux rameaux d'olivier, 1727AA, Metz. D/ B. habillé à g., décoré de la croix du Saint-Esprit. R/ Ecu de France couronné, entre deux rameaux d'olivier. Gradé PCGS XF45. Très Beau. Provient de Schulman, 1989 et de la collection Teitgen, Paris, 26-28 octobre 2015, 935. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, silver écu of the olive branches of 1727, Metz mint. Obverse: uniformed bust left, decorated with the cross of the Holy Spirit; reverse: crowned arms of France between two olive branches. Very Fine.)"

This coin is an écu aux branches d'olivier from the Metz mint. Metz mint issues are known for the entire span of this type (1726-40) altho this is the one of the few that is reasonably common.

Recorded mintage: 96,810[2].
