This specimen was part of lot 23137 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), which sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MIXED LOTS. Lot of (4) Mixed Certified World Coins, 1882-1930. NGC/PCGS AU-55 to MS-62 BN. Begins with an 1882-A Greece 5 Lepta in NGC MS-62 BN (easily the best coin in the lot), followed by a 1906-A [sic] German Empire Mark in NGC AU-55, then a 1911 Australia 6 Pence in NGC AU-58, and finally a 1930 Portugal 50 centavos in PCGS AU-58. Straight graded problem free coins with even color, that are nice representative examples of these highly collectible issues. Approximate retail value of about US$400." King George ruled 1863-1913. This is the most common of the three dates, 1878, 1879 and 1882. It is accompanied by a ten lepta (KM 55). Very common in worn condition, it is rare choice. The next five lepta issue of 1894 was copper-nickel (KM 58).
Recorded mintage: 14,400,000.
Specification: 5 g, copper.
Catalog reference: KM-54.
