Sincona sale 51, lot 3216

This specimen was lot 3216 in Sincona sale 51 (Zurich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Mainz, Erzbistum, Anselm Casimir Wamboldt von Umstadt, 1629-1647. 1/2 Taler 1642, Mainz. Das mit Schwert und Krummstab besteckte vierfeldige Wappen Mainz und Wambolt-Umstadt unter Kurhut, darunter die Münzmeisterinitialen. Rv. Jahreszahl und Schrift in Kranz. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Germany, archbishopric of Mainz, Anselm Casimir Wamboldt von Umstadt, 1629-1647, half thaler of 1642, Mainz mint. Obverse: capped, quartered arms of Mainz and Wambolt-Umstadt, mintmaster's initials below; reverse: date and legend in wreath. Very rare, Very fine-extremely fine, Attractive patina.)"

This type was struck 1640-42 and is quite expensive.
