Switzerland 1986 5 rappen rev DSLR.jpg

The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Bern, Switzerland, starting in 1981. This denomination was struck in copper-nickel 1879-1980. Despite the numbing monotony of Swiss coinage (some designs have been struck for 150 years without change), collectors pursue this design by date.

Recorded mintage: 55,041,000 plus 10,000 proofs (common in all grades).

Specification: 1.8 g, aluminum-bronze, 17.1 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 26c.
