This type has been struck at the Bern mint since 1879. Production was interrupted during the two world wars. This is a common date but is the first date to drop the "B" mintmark on the reverse. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.

Recorded mintage: 40,020,000.

Specification: 3 g, copper-nickel, 19.1 mm diameter, plain edge.
