This specimen was lot 25186 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Gelderland. Gold 1/2 Cavalier d'Or 1619, AU Details NGC (mount removed), somewhat softly struck, the damage mentioned by NGC is not visible in the slab, but there is a small rim scratch on the reverse at 12 o'clock." Gelderland, along with several other Dutch provinces, issued gold ducats from the sixteenth century until the termination of the United Provinces by Napoleon in the 1790's. This type is recorded for 1608-25, 1641 and 1644 along with a cavalier d'or (KM 18).

Specification: 5 g, .920 fine gold, .147 troy oz AGW.
