This specimen is one of a type was struck 1741-74 during the reign of Louis XV of France; the demi-écu au bandeau is reasonably common but most dates (including this one) are rare. The "W" mintmark (for Lille) is recorded for 1741-42, 1744-63 and 1766; some of the issues are common but the 1760 is rare.

Recorded mintage: 7,138.

Specification: 14.74 g, .917 fine silver, edge lettered DOMINE SALVUM FAC REGEM, obverse legend LUD.XV.D.G.FR.ET NAV.REX.
