Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 42199

This specimen was lot 42199 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description^[1] noted, "INDIA. Portuguese India. Goa. 10 Bazarucos, 1800. Joao as Prince Regent. NGC VF Details--Environmental Damage." This is not an issue of Goa but of the colony of Diu, to the north. This type is listed for 1799-1800 along with three, five and twenty bazarucos, all struck in tin. One rupee was 750 bazarucos.
