This specimen was lot 33424 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $846. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Four Coin Maundy Set 1853 UNC. Young head type. An exceptional quartet with mostly bright white surfaces and dazzling luster. Seldom offered this choice." This type, KM 730, was struck 1838-87 for circulation in large quantities, tho 1853 is a scarce date.

Recorded mintage: 36,000 plus 4,488 for sets.

Specification: 1.41 g, .925 fine silver.
