Anhwei was made a separate province in China in the 17th century. It consists primarily of agricultural land. The Anhwei mint began production in 1897, closed in 1899, and reopened again in 1902. Production was entirely of copper cash coins after 1902.

The specimen shown was lot 51126 in a Stacks Bowers auction (Hong Kong, August 2012), where it sold for $41,825. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Anhwei. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), Year 24 (1898). PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Mint State 24th Year of Kuang Hsu Anhwei Dollar Very attractive with frosty white surfaces and good eye appeal."

Specification: 27.10 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.7842 oz ASW.
