This specimen was lot 1251 in Spink sale 301 (London, May 2010). This two year type was struck during the reign of Christian VI (1730-46). At the time, the monetary system was 12 penning = 1 skilling, 16 skilling = one mark, 4 mark = one krone, 6 mark = one daler specie, 2 daler specie = one ducat. This coin was theoretically one fourth of a daler specie but is a little light on silver. This denomination was struck until 1783. Norway was a part of Denmark until 1814.
