from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70280

This specimen was lot 70280 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $456. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1908-M. Melbourne Mint. NGC MS-61. Quite shimmering and glistening, this specimen would appear to be a bit conservatively graded in the opinion of this cataloger." This date, from a type struck 1902-10 at Perth (shown here), Melbourne and Sydney, is common.
