This specimen was lot 40220 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $18,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "Extremely Rare Ducat of Albrecht V. One of Bavaria's Earliest Portrait Coins. GERMANY. Bavaria. Ducat, ND. Albrecht V (1550-79). NGC EF-40. Obverse: Crowned bust left in circle as Elector of the Empire, Duke of Bavaria; Reverse: Quartered arms in collar of the Golden Fleece, legend around which translates to, 'If God is with Us, Who can be Against'. Here is a ruggedly attractive piece, among Bavaria's earliest portrait coins and a significantly RARE issue in the annals of the House of Wittelsbach." Altho other gold issues of this ruler are known with dates, this one only comes undated.
