Jean Elsen sale 143, lot 1795

This specimen was lot 1795 in Jean Elsen sale 143 (Brussels, December 2019), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,656 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, FRIESLAND, Provincie, AR ontwerp Koggerdaalder (30 stuiver), 1682. Vz/ Gekroond provinciewapen tussen 30- ST. Kz/ In kruisvorm de wapens van Oostergo, Westergo, Sevenwolden en de elf steden. In het midden twee ineengestrengelde handen met pijlenbundel. In de hoeken, OG-WG-SW-ST. Zeer zeldzaam Prachtemplaar. Prachtig à Fleur de Coin. (Netherlands, province of Friesland, silver thirty stuivers of 1682. Obverse: crowned arms divides the value; reverse: the arms of Oostergo, Westergo, Sevenwolden posed in a cross, in the center two clasped hands. Very scarce, cabinet piece, Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1682 only. A similar type was struck 1687, then converted to a half three gulden (KM 74).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 19.19 g, .757 fine silver, 0.464 troy oz ASW; this specimen 18,32 g.
