Stack's Bowers 2021 ANA sale, lot 45282

This specimen was lot 45282 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "MACAU. 100 Patacas, 1995. Lunar Series, Year of the Pig. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Tone-free and bordering on perfection with sumptuous cameo features. Sold with certificate of authenticity #2713." This NCLT, one of the last issued by the Portuguese administration before the city was returned to China, is one of a series honoring the animals of the Chinese lunar calendar. The design also appeared on a gold 1000 patacas (KM 76). Another 100 patacas issued in 1995 (KM 77) marked the opening of the new airport.

Recorded mintage: 1,000 + 4,000 proofs.

Specification: 28.28 g, 0.925 fine silver.
