This specimen was lot 788 in Aureo y Calicó sale 243 (Barcelona, April 2012), where it sold for 420 € (about US$634 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,
"1807. Carlos IV. Madrid. FA. 1 escudo. Bella. Brillo original. Rara así. EBC+. (one escudo of 1807, Madrid mint. Handsome, original luster, rare thus, choice extremely fine.)"
This is the final date of a type struck since 1788 at Madrid. Seville did not strike this type. No more escudos would be struck in Spain until 1817.
