The modern nation of Greece obtained her independence from Ottoman Turkey in 1833. It functioned as a monarchy from that year until 1925 and again from 1935-1974. Coins from this period often feature a crown as part of the design. Today the country is the Hellenic Republic of Greece.
The coin shown is an aluminum holed five lepta.
Recorded mintage: 15,000,000.
Specification: aluminum.
Catalog reference: KM 77.
