This specimen was lot 178 in Jean Elsen sale 146 (Brussels, November 2020), where it sold for €120 (about US$175 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"FRANCE, Royaume, Louis XV (1715-1774), AR 10 sols de Navarre (douzième d'écu), 1719AA, Metz. D/ B. enfantin à d., l., dr. et cuir. R/ Ecu écartelé de France-Navarre, échancré et couronné, accosté de la valeur. Rare Avec deux points sous l'écu, au-dessus de AA. Gradé PCGS AU55. Très Beau à Superbe. (kingdom of France, Louis XV, 1715-74, silver ten sols of Navarre (one twelfth écu) of 1719, Metz mint. Obverse: laureate and armored young bust to right; reverse: crowned and quartered arms of France and Navarre divide the value. Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"

This coin, called a ten sols de France et de Navarre, was part of the John Law issues of 1719-23. It was worth 10 sols (one fourth of the petit louis d'argent) and was struck 1719 only. The succeeding type, the douzieme d'écu à l'écusson de France, was set equal to 15 sols and was struck over this type.

Recorded mintage: 548,640, a fairly common date[2].

Specification: 2.04 g, .917 fine silver, 20 mm diameter, reeded edge, Engraved by Norbert Roëttiers, this specimen 24,07 g.
