The specimen shown is an écu à la mèche longue struck in Paris during the reign of Louis XIV of France. This mint struck this type 1647-54.

Recorded mintage: est. 2,368,000.

Specification: 27.45 g, .917 fine silver, plain edge, designed by Jean Warin and Isaac Briot.
