Sincona sale 20, lot 2398

This specimen was lot 2398 in Sincona sale 19 (Zurich, October 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Taler 1586. Goslar Lichttaler. Sehr schön. (very fine.)" This "light" thaler (presumably referring to the lamp in the wild man's hand and not the weight) is noted for 1583-88. It is fairly common for a sixteenth century thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 29.14 g.

Catalog reference: Welter 578, Davenport 9064.
