Bern 1684-B 3 ducats Fr-132
This specimen was lot 4106 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 28,000 CHF (about US$40,614 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, 3 Dukaten 1684, Bern. Doppeltes, gekröntes Stadtwappen. Rv. Vier Zeilen Schrift mit Jahreszahl in Kartusche. Sehr selten. Fast FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Switzerland, city and canton of Bern, triple ducat of 1684, Bern mint. Obverse: crowned double city arms; reverse: four line inscription with date in cartouche. Very rare, About Mint State, Magnificent condition.)"
This rare and expensive type was also struck in 1680 and 1697. It was accompanied by a four ducats (Fr-131).
