This specimen was lot 4195 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 1,400 CHF (about US$1,885 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SCHWEIZ Zürich, Halbtaler 1773, Zürich. Vorderseitenstempel wie Gessner-Halbtaler mit zurückblickendem Löwen nach rechts. Rv. Reiche Barockeinfassung, Schrift und Jahreszahl in vier Zeilen. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC.'' ([[Switzerland]], canton of [[Switzerland, Zurich|Zurich]], half thaler of 1773, Zurich mint. Obverse: dies of the "Gessner" half thaler with lion looking to right; reverse: baroque cartouche with legend and date in four lines. Very rare in this condition, About uncirculated.)"</blockquote> The SCWC notes three varieties of half thaler for 1773: KM 155 (sword and palm branch reverse), KM 156 (lion to right, shown here) and KM 157 (lion to left).
