The Rasulids were a dynasty which tooks its name from Rasul, who was a Turkoman official of the Abbasids. However, the first ruler of the dynasty was Rasul’s grandson Umar I, whose rule followed the collapse of the Ayyubid dynasty (centered in [[Egypt]] and [[Syria]]).

The specimen shown is a silver 1 dirham from the ruler Al Ashraf Isma'il Mumahhid al-Din Isma'il, who ruled 1377-1400 AD. It is dated AH 785, or about 1383 AD, and minted in al-Mahjam. The reverse shows an image of a fish.
