This specimen was lot 2986 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''SWITZERLAND, Tessin/Ticino, Viertelfranken 1835. FDC. Hübsche Patina.'' (canton of Ticino, quarter franco of 1835. Uncirculated, Attractive patina.)"</blockquote> After being temporarily unified under Napoleon's Helvetic Republic, the cantons went their separate ways after the Congress of Vienna and issued a torrent of low value coins. Not until 1850 would a unified confederation mint her own coins and terminate the local issues. In Ticino, an Italian-speaking canton, 12 denari = one soldo; 20 soldi = one franco. This ''quarto franco'' is accompanied by a three denari, [[Ticino 1835 6 denari|six denari]] and a [[Ticino 1835 1/2 franco|''mezzo franco'']].
