This specimen was lot 1170 in Áureo y Calicó sale 346 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €275 (about US$363 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''1643. Felipe IV. (Madrid). B. 1 real. Ceca vertical. Castillos y leones. Leve grieta. Bella. Ex Colección Isabel de Trastámara 25/05/2017, nº 291. Muy rara y más así. EBC-.'' (kingdom of [[Spain]], Philip IV, one real of 1643, Madrid mint, vertical mintmark, castles and lions. Slightly rough but still handsome. Very rare thus, about extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This type was struck at Madrid 1643 only. We don't know why this coin is underweight but we suspect it was intentional.
