This specimen was lot 4230 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$679 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''500 Dollars 1990. Jahr des Pferdes. Polierte Platte. Mit Originaletui.'' (republic of Singapore, five hundred dollars of 1990, year of the horse. Proof, with original box.)"</blockquote> This specimen was issued by [[Singapore]] as part of a series of half ounce gold coins featuring the Chinese zodiac. The series ended with the year of the monkey in 1992. Singapore, today an independent city-state, was until 1948 part of the British colony of the [[Straits Settlements]]. It left the Federation of Malaysia in 1965 and commenced coinage in 1967.
