This specimen was lot 40328 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,610. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "POLAND. 2,000 Zlotych, 1982. PCGS PROOF-68 DEEP CAMEO. Pope John Paul II. Mintage of 1,250 pieces." Pope John Paul II, the first non-Italian pope in several centuries, was a Polish celebrity of the first order and even the Communist regime could not pass up the opportunity to issue NCLT's in his honor. The 1982 series include 100, [[Poland 1982-CHI 200 zlotych KM-Y137|200,]] 1000, 2000, 5000, [[Poland 1982-CHI 10000 zlotych|10,000]] zlotych denominations in various metals.
