This specimen was lot 72643 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $216. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Oman|MUSCAT AND OMAN]]. 10 Baisa, AH 1359 (1940). NGC PROOF-63 Cameo. Restrike issue; struck for use in Dhofar province. Some scattered hairlines consistent with the designation, but an otherwise brilliant proof issue with a high degree of luster and exceptionally mirrored fields." The sultan, Said ibn Taimur, was overthrown in 1970 by his son, who renamed the country plain [[Oman]]. Dhofar province lies in the south of the country. This one year type is common altho some rare gold proofs exist.
