This type was struck for the County of Montfort in 1691. As a sixty kreuzer or gulden, it is just too light to qualify as a thaler and so lacks a Davenport number. Montfort is an extremely obscure locality on the shore of Lake Constance in Wurttemberg. We have filed it under [[Austria]] as the counts sold out to the Austrian emperor in 1780.This specimen was lot 1522 in Stack's Coin Galleries sale (Irvine, July 2011), where it sold for $218.50. The catalog description noted, "Anton II, Regent (1686-93). Armored bust r., titles end ADMINIST. Rv. Crowned Arms in wreath, FORTITER ET CONSTANTER. Bold overdate. Natural flan flaw at 11:00 shows signs of minimization, lightly cleaned. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED."
