This specimen was lot 473 in Nomisma Arte auction 67 (Verona, Italy, April 2023), where it did not sell. The lot description noted, "''GUASTALLA Ferrante III (1632-1678) Scudo 1664, RRR Esemplare di ottimo argento e ben coniato MB+.'' (duchy of Guastalla, Ferrante Gonzaga III, 1632-78, scudo of 1664, very rare, outstanding quality and well struck, choice Fine.)" The county of Guastalla, raised to a duchy in 1621, was ruled by the Gonzagas 1539-1748 and thereupon merged with the duchy of [[Italy, Parma|Parma]]. Issues for this locality are sparse and rare. This type is really too light for a crown but was struck using the same dies as a double scudo (Dav-3917) so Davenport included it. A tallero of 1673 (Dav-3918) completes the crowns of this ruler.
