This specimen was lot 1058 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 2,800 CHF (about US$3,509 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Grossbritannien, konigreich, Charles I. 1625-1649. Crown 1642, Shrewsburry Mint. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kleiner Schrötlingsfehler am Rand. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung.'' (kingdom of [[Great Britain]], Charles I, 1625-49, crown of 1642, Shrewsbury mint. Very fine-extremely fine, Minor flan flaw on edge, Extraordinary condition.)"</blockquote> While Charles had issued crowns in silver and gold prior to the Civil War, his urgent need for cash led him to open several provisional mints and issue crowns in a large variety of types.
