This circulating commemorative honored Charles de Gaulle, leader of the [[France|French]] Resistance during World War Two and later president of France in the sixties. The regular issue nickel franc was minted 1960-2001 and is not rare tho many dates (including 1988) were struck only for sale to collectors.
