This specimen was lot 20439 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $18,800. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Central American Republic]] gold 8 Escudos 1833-F CR, AU Details NGC, edge filing, well-struck features, cleaned at one time with a few tiny natural flan flaws, the "filing" noted by NGC is not visible in the holder and may be a figment of the grader's imagination. Rare type and grade. The Cecil Webster Collection of [[Costa Rica]]." This type, listed by the SCWC under the Central American Republic, was minted in Costa Rica 1828-37 and in Guatemala 1824-25 (KM 8). All are rare and expensive.
