This specimen was lot 51388 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $2,160. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"[[China|CHINA]]. 500 Yuan, 2010. Panda Series. PCGS MS-70. First Strike insert. Free of noticeable flaws with moderate amounts of reddish tone on both sides."</blockquote> The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. The gold panda is one of the most popular. Prior to 2001, the one ounce panda was denominated 100 yuan.
