This specimen was lot 5653 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €220 (about US$306 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, FÜRSTENTUM, Johann Friedrich, 1665-1679. 1/24 Taler 1679, Zellerfeld, auf seinen Tod am 28. Dezember. RR Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. Aus der Sammlung eines Ingenieurs. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 32, Osnabrück 1996, Nr. 3686.'' ([[Germany]], [[German States, Brunswick-Luneburg|duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg]], John Frederick, 1665-79, 1/24 thaler of 1679, Zellerfeld mint, on his death on December 28. Very rare, handsome patina, extremely fine.)"</blockquote> This is one of an extensive series of commemoratives marking the death of duke Joahnn Friedrich. Another 1/24 thaler, struck at Clausthal with initials "HB", bears catalog number KM 213.
