In 1867 the silver coinage of [[Brazil]] was redesigned to adopt the portrait of the emperor Pedro II, who already appeared on the [[Brazil 1853 20000 reis|gold coinage]]. This type was struck 1867-69; similar coins were issued until the fall of the empire in 1889. The prior type with the value obverse ([[Brazil 1867 500 reis KM-464|KM 464]]) also exists for 1867.
