This specimen was lot 30898 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,116.25. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "Carl XIV Johan of Sweden Speciedaler 1844, XF40 NGC. Nice details, with attractive blue and steel-gray toning. One notable scratch appears on the obverse below the bust." This type, recorded for 1844 only, is now scarce. It was struck to the Danish standard ([[Denmark 1848-VS speciedaler Dav-75|Dav-75]]) rather than the larger Swedish riksdaler ([[Sweden 1862-ST LA riksdaler specie Dav-356|Dav-356]]).
