This specimen was lot 1869 in Sincona sale 38 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,439 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"''Batthyani, Fürstentum, Karl Josef, 1764-1772 Dukat 1764. Wien. Sehr schön. Fassungsspuren und Kratzer.'' (Holy Roman Empire, principality of Batthyani, Charles Joseph, 1764-72, ducat of 1764, Vienna mint. Very fine. Mounted and scratched.)"</blockquote> This scarce type was minted 1764, 1765 and 1770. A thaler ([[Batthyani 1764 thaler Dav-1182|Dav-1182]]), five ducats ([[Batthyani 1764 5 ducats Fr-551|Fr-551]]) and ten ducats ([[Batthyani 1764 10 ducats Fr-550|Fr-550]]) also exist. This specimen realized more than the catalog value even in its damaged condition.
