Zug 1746 1/6 assis
This specimen was lot 4596 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 2,500 CHF (about US$3,626 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zug, Stadt und Kanton, 1/6 Assis 1746, Zug. Sehr breites spanisches Wappen. DATE . ET . DABITVR . VOBI. Rv. Fünf Zeilen Schrift, Jahreszahl und Beizeichen. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 20, Zürich, Oktober 2014, Los 3567. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, one-sixth assis of 1746, Zug mint. Obverse: broad Spanish arms, legend around; reerse: five line inscription with date and value. Rare in this condition, About Extremely Fine.)"
The SCWC lists this type for 1747-52, 1756-57, 1761-67. Like many low denomination coins, it is common in low grade but rare in choice condition, no contemporaries thinking it worth hoarding. It was equal to the angster (1/600 thaler).
