Zug (1569-73) 1/2 dicken
This specimen was lot 5577 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,131 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Zug. Stadt und Kanton. Halbdicken o. J. (1569-1573), Zug. Vorderseitenumschrift: . MON . CANTON . - . TVGI . SANC . OSW. . Rückseitenumschrift: { CVM . HIS . CVI . ODERVN - PACEM . FRAM PACIFI . . Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Diese Umschriftvariante scheint nicht ediert zu sein, obwohl der Rückseitenstempel in den letzten 20 Jahren zwei Mal vorkam, allerdings mit anderen Aversstempel kombiniert (UBS Gold & Numismatics Auktion 53, Los 512 und SINCONA Auktion 53 (Slg. Kunzmann), in Los 6922). (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, undated half dicken, circa 1569-73, Zug mint. Very rare, Very Fine. This variant of the inscription does not appear to have been published, although the reverse die has appeared twice in the last 20 years, but combined with different obverse dies.)"
Half a dicken was twelve kreuzer or four groschen. This type is not known with dates. St. Oswald appears on the obverse tho not cited by name.
