Zug (15)65 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 4573 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 5,500 CHF (about US$7,978 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zug, Stadt und Kanton, Doppelvierer 1565, Zug. Mindere Jahreszahl 65. Stempel von Stampfer in Zürich. Sehr selten. Gutes sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Kunzmann, Auktion SINCONA 53, Zürich, Oktober 2018, Los 6917. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, double vierer of 1565, Zug mint, abbreviated date, dies cut in Zurich. Very rare, Good Very Fine.)"
We're going to call a double vierer a kreuzer. At this time, the thaler was rising from sixty kreuzer to 72 kreuzer. Numista lists undated kreuzer from this period but those are catalogued as HMZ 2-1082.
