This specimen was lot 73630 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ZIMBABWE. 20 Cents, 1988. Kings Norton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-67 Gold Shield. A stunning example, this exceptional piece stands at the top of the PCGS population report, with great brilliance and the Birchenough Bridge over the Sabi River on the reverse. Ex: Kings Norton Mint Collection." This type was introduced in 1980 with the inauguration of the nation of Zimbabwe from the ruins of the white supremacist regime of Rhodesia. It was struck intermittently until 1997. Inflation has destroyed its usefulness as Robert Mugabe overstayed his welcome.
