The catalog description[1] noted, "Whittier, CA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 599 The Whittier NB Ch. # (P)7999. A popular Los Angeles County location, Fine with the back a bit discolored. When we last sold this note four years ago, it brought $550. It is likely to bring a bit more this evening. From our CAA September, 2000 Cincinnati sale, lot 1891."

The catalog description[1] noted, "Whittier, CA - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 617 The Whittier NB Ch. # 7999. Only three Date Backs from this bank are known, a $5 and two $10s (of which this is one). Bold signatures enhance the eye appeal, and the paper is problem-free save for a few pinholes in the center and a number of pinholes in the portrait area. Nice Fine."
