This specimen was lot 46886 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Venice. Grosso, ND (1253-68). Reniero Zeno. NGC VF-35." The grosso was introduced in the late Middle Ages as trade revived and the increasingly debased dinero was inconveniently small for commercial transactions. At this time, one grosso equalled 26 denari.
